Day 15 -
Strategies for Stress Reduction

Stress compromises the immune system and leaves the body susceptible to cancer.

I recently read an article on WebMD which was titled: health tips you can learn from your pet. If followed, it leads to a much less stressful life:

Stop Multitasking

Pets give you their full attention. Research shows that multitasking makes you less productive and stressed.

Take a “Cat Nap”

Short naps keep your heart healthy and increases .well-being.

Walk Every Day

Most oncologists recommend walking at least 20 minutes/day 3x per week. Fresh air and exercise are great stress reducers.

Cultivate Friendships

Having social connections leads to longer life.

Live in the Moment

In a study called "A Wandering Mind Is an Unhappy Mind," Harvard psychologists conclude that people are happiest when doing activities that keep the mind focused.

Practice Forgiveness

Holding a grudge increases anxiety. While you’re practicing forgiveness, don’t forget to forgive yourself. Rehashing old mistakes is destructive and holds no purpose.

Practice Gratitude

Quite simply, smile and practice gratitude.

Be Silly

Laughter is the best medicine.

Get a Back Rub

The Power of touch. Massage therapy can ease pain, give the immune system a boost, reduce anxiety, and help manage chronic conditions like asthma and diabetes. Hug your loved ones.

If You Love Someone Show It

Tell your loved ones you love them everyday and often.

Play

Take time to have fun. Don’t be a workaholic.

Spend Time Outside

Get fresh air and Vitamin D. Spending time outside is not only relaxing but healthy.

Take Time to Groom

When you look good, you feel good. Self-esteem is important.

Stretch Often

This is why Yoga is so good for you, but simply stretching throughout the day is a healthy practice. This is especially important if you have a sedentary job.

Seek the Shade

Take breaks! Meditate! Breath deeply and relax.

Carpe Diem!
